7 MONTHS!

Dear Larkin,
According to an online age calculator, this past Tuesday you were 7 months, 30.7 weeks and 215 days old! 



The most significant development of this past month is your size.  You've been eating like crazy the past week and a half and the two most frequent comments I get are on how long you are now or how blond or long your hair has gotten.

You have just recently become a little more proficient sitting up and you are also getting more comfortable eating solid foods, taking in several spoonfuls each attempt now.

 We have tried to transfer you over to feedings every four hours, but particularly in the afternoon, you still have not adjusted. After some pretty serious crying and then a quick downing of the bottle after about 3.5 hours, I've decided to hold off a while longer before making this transition.  However, you like to hold your own bottle sometimes and you've also learned this month how to transfer things from one hand to another!  On the changing table, you are a wiggle worm.  Rarely are you not reaching, twisting or turning over while I try to change you.  I've gotten pretty fast, but it can prove to be a messy challenge when you don't stay still!


Because of trying to extend your feeding our schedule has been a little more unpredictable.  I attempted a shot at two naps a day, but at this point it still isn't worth it because you look and feel pretty miserable without that third nap.  So, that's okay buddy we will take things slow and try again in another few weeks!  For now you have about a 1.5-2 hr wake time which stretches longer right before bed.


This month has been so busy and lots of fun!  We've had playgroups and playdates...

 ...and even set you up for Mother's Day Out next fall. 


The past two weeks are two that I treasure so much.  The month started off a little rocky, it was more difficult for you to be left alone.  However, the past two weeks have been much better.  You've been a champ... adjusting well when schedules changed and things were different. 

One of my favorite developments of this month is that you've started burying your head in my chest or shoulder when you start to get sleepy- it's so precious.

You are really starting to develop a little personality that seems to be wiggly, inquisitive, happy and even opinionated.  I'm sure you can describe most 7 month olds this way, but I see in you a little individual that is emerging and daddy and I feel blessed to be entrusted raising you.
