Grocery Shopping

My friend Mary Emma's car was in the shop one day this week so we had a playdate grocery shopping to get some things we both needed.... Larkin and Oliver had fun.

As of yesterday, Larkin is waving much more consistently!  Happy shopping, boys!

Busy Weekend

Well to catch up on the past two weeks Larkin is now officially not breastfeeding!  We are currently on full formula and about to make the switch to cows milk.  I cannot believe he has been with us almost a year my goodness how it has flown.

Lark has also just started pushing his little push cart all by himself this week... It's his first actual attempt at walking and it's pretty cute.  Right now it's more of a lean and limp (leaning on the push cart which gives him a bit of a ghetto limp) but daddy and I are so proud of our little guy and cheering him on.

The past week or two have been a bit more difficult as he has been more whiny.  I'm not sure if it's from the weaning or from all of these little teeth that look like they are about to pop out, but nonetheless he has seemed a bit more frustrated.

We are still enjoying playgroup and we had a wonderful weekend with daddy this week while mommy celebrated her friends bachelorette party.  Daddy took Larkin to a good friend Oliver's birthday party and did really well with him.  It was fun to come back and see they had bonded even more.

And pics from this weekend's bachelorette...Casi was my college roomie and probably the most genuinely sweet-hearted friend I have.  She is getting married in August and so this weekend we celebrated her bachelorette party. I just realized I missed out on taking pics of an entire night of the weekend... so these pics are from at least half of the weekend... fun time with friends.

Oh my goodness a busy busy weekend... I'm (no i think we are all) exhausted!  I need a vacation :)

To All the Father's in My Life

To the Perfect Father in my life- the One who has formed and fashioned me who loves and cares for me and has never left or forsaken me.  I'm thankful for my Father's love...

To my dad who loved me so very well... I have so many memories growing up of him taking me on frozen yogurt and Chuck E Cheese "daddy daughter dates", Indian Princess camping trips, and countless daddy daughter talks and even more sweet notes to tell me he loves me. He's been a very involved dad who is playful, funny and a good listener.  I love you so very much and I am so thankful you are my dad!

Another special father in my life- my brother Stephen who is an incredible hands - on, goofy, nurturing father to his son, Luke and about to be a second father (any day or minute for that matter) to a little girl, Anna Kate.  It's so fun watching my big brother be a dad and see what an incredible dad he has become.

To a more recent "father" in my life :) -- My father in law, Pop.  An incredible father to Jordan who raised him to be a man of integrity.  Pop has a heart of gold and can always make me smile.  I cannot imagine a better father-in-law. So thankful for him in my life.

                         

And a VERY SPECIAL FIRST FATHERS DAY to the newest daddy- what a blessing it's been to see him with Larkin - to watch him show and tell him that he loves him.  From watching the countless diaper changes, rocking and bottle feedings at the beginning to watching the tickles and playful interaction now.  What a wonderful daddy who already models for Larkin what a selfless, serving, godly man looks like.. A father who pursues a life bringing glory to God by the way he raises his son and loves his wife.

Busy Nap

 I have left Lark's bumpers on and typically use the sleep sack when putting him down for a nap, so today I decided to see what would happen without the sleep sack.  Little Lark would not go to sleep.  He was tossing and turning until I looked and saw this in the monitor.... uh oh.

He got stuck standing up and although you see a green light he must have been catching his breath because poor little monkey was screaming his head off... not quite sure how to get back down.  So mommy went in and saw him just like this.

Looks like it's time to lower the crib again!

Casi's Bridal Shower

Yesterday afternoon a few of our closest friends hosted a bridal shower to celebrate the upcoming marriage of Casi and her fiance Matt.  Casi was a sorority sister and my roomate the last two years of college.  She is the most cheerful and genuinely kind person I know.  To celebrate Casi we found it only fitting to do a bright and cheerful theme for decor.  Unfortunately these pictures are taken with my iphone so the quality is not the best.

HAPPY 11 MONTHS LARKIN!

We've been very busy this month.  That combined with some posting problems have made blogging difficult.  But thanks to a free evening and dear friend Marina who is a computer genius (not the dorky kind)...We're back in business!  And, that being said.... Larkin is ELEVEN MONTHS OLD!!

So... To catch up, Here's what we've been up to this month:

We've learned to go from our tummies to sitting up all by ourselves!

We've just this week learned to pull ourselves up to a standing position and look out the bay window.  Lark loves to watch the cars zoom by!

We've attended our first outdoor concert with friends in downtown Dallas

We've continued eating our solids!  Larkin has gone through a significant growth spurt this month.  Even friends are commenting about the transition they see from baby to little boy.  I think this is partly due to the fact that he is only nursing twice now and has started taking formula

Our current schedule is:

Wake @ 7 nurse, solids for breakfast @7:30ish

Nap 9-11, Bottle of formula at 11:00, solids for lunch at 11:30ish

Nap 1ish-3, Bottle of formula at 3:00, snack at 4:30 

solids for dinner @6, nurse and bottle @7:15/7:30

We've even tried a few new places to eat with friends "Bolsa Market"

We've played with friends

Been silly with mommy

We've done a little grocery shopping

And met a new friend - Charlie Sheppard was welcomed into the world this month!

We've discovered a love for reading!  Lark loves to turn the pages on his books and read babble, read read!

 Best of all, we've had some quality time as a family with mommy and daddy.

Looking back on this eleventh month I would say the most significant change this month is physical growth- what a little boy he is becoming.  He is even more aware and responsive as we interact and he is always on the go!

Things he didn't like this month:

• His carseat (which we changed to a bigger one and he likes this better), 
• Riding in the stroller when mommy is shopping - he wants to be out or held.. I hope this is a phase we have thrown several fits and mommy had to leave a few stores early.  I think Daddy is in on this somehow and is perhaps paying Larkin off in someway?
• Veggies- Larkin likes mixed veggies and certain other ones but his fav foods are protein and carbs - like mommy!
