It's Business Time

This weekend as Jordan and I were watching the Oscars we were surprised to see former Flight of the Conchords member, Bret McKenzie. He looked a bit more dapper than we remembered him as he accepted the Oscar for Best Original Song.

                                       

It took as back to a marriage conference our church hosted a few years ago when we watched "Business Time" during one of the breakout sessions..... oh goodness...

No matter how many times I watch this, I'm always in stitches by the end so I thought I'd share..

A Short Story by Piper Brazeal

Once upon a time there was a dog named Piper who belonged to Jordan and Liz.  Piper was the queen of their hearts.  She got all the love and attention she wanted. 

She went on trips with daddy.

And cuddled all the time with mommy.

It was just the three of them and life was perfect.

Then one day, things changed. 

 Along came another Brazeal, Baby Larkin.  Piper was unsure about this new little guy at first.

He made loud noises and took all of mommy and daddy's attention away. 

She no longer could ride shotgun with daddy and the little man took her spot on the couch cuddling with mommy.

Confused at this huge change of events, she decided to do the only thing she could do. 

So she decided to watch him.

So she watched . . .

And watched...

And watched.

AND WATCHED.

And after all the watching, she decided he didn't do much. 

"What could mommy and daddy find so endearing about this little guy?" she thought . . .

 . . .But eventually, the new little man began to win her heart over too.

So they began to hang out together and do all the things that buddies do.

  They drank . . . (water of course) . . .

And chilled . . .

 . . . and talked.

Before long they were great friends. 

Piper took it upon herself to teach the little guy all the tricks she new.

She started with her best trick - sitting.

They practiced first in the bumbo . . .

And when the little man got real good at that, she practiced and helped him master sitting solo.

She taught him how to roll over. . .

And even how to play ball.

Piper loved him so much she began to guard him while mommy rocked or fed him before naps.

Sometimes the little guy would still get on her nerves.  He would steal her duck.

Or tease her with his toys . . .

And bother her while she was trying to sleep.

But mommy always made them hug and make up.

It was the beginning of a beautiful friendship.  And Piper was happy.  She was happy to have a new little friend and someone else to share her mommy and daddy with. 

It was just the four of them and life was perfect.

She was adopted by Liz and Jordan Brazeal that Christmas. 

 Besides spending time with Larkin, Piper loves to run and eat.  And run some more.

Arboretum Day

This week we visited the Arboretum with a few of the girls from playgroup and their babies.  It was an absolutely gorgeous day!

Larkin is sad mommy did not have a hat for him.

So I gave him a paci instead... Poor little guy.  He was very tired.  Such a beautiful day and so nice to be able to go out and enjoy it with sweet friends.

  

Tripp's Sip 'N See

This past month we celebrated the birth of my dear friend Karen Rector's new son, Tripp.  To welcome this new little guy a few of our close friends hosted a Sip 'n See shower.  Karen and I are friends from high school and we were sorority sisters in college.  Tripp was born November 25th to the delight of Karen, BJ and big sister Eleanor.

Since the Sip 'n See was held in February we decided on a "Valentine-y" theme to show off Karen's new heart throb.

Tripp seems to have such a sweet little disposition.  He was an angel the whole time, content in anyone's arms.  We are so thankful for this new little addition to the Rector family and look forward to all the moments we get watching him grow up!
